WE WANT TO APPLY THE SEATTLE BASED STOCKBOX MODEL IN JONESTOWN.
Stockbox is the new food desert neighborhood grocery solution. The idea is to place small grocery stores in urban areas to offer a local resource for fresh foods, meals, and grocery staples in communities that don't have access to good food, in order to go where the grocery stores can’t and stock the food convenience stores won't.
It is clear there is a pressing social need in Jonestown and that is the grocery gap. This is currently a growing trend in urban areas. Lower-income areas and food deserts, such as Jonestown, are dependent on convenient stores to shop for food, which leads to higher levels of chronic health issues in neighborhoods because of the lack of healthy food options. Jonestown should not be left without a retail core to provide essential resources to its community. StockBox can fill this need.
